Iced Coffee

Why not add iced coffee to your repertoire of cold beverages? It’s easy, and it’s the perfect way to enjoy coffee on a hot summer day! You can use any coffee for making iced coffee. Here are a couple of brewing methods to get the most out of your iced coffee experience.

Cold Brewing Process
Steep 1 pound of coffee (ground for drip) in 3 quarts of cold water for 12 hours. Filter into an airtight container. This should yield about 1 quart of iced coffee concentrate. Keep chilled. Mix 1 part iced coffee concentrate and 3 parts cold water for iced coffee beverages. If refrigerated, it should taste delicious for at least 1 week.

Conventional Brewing Method
Brew coffee in your regular brewer as usual. If you would like, brew it slightly stronger to insure full flavor despite melting ice. Transfer into an airtight continer and chill. Pour over ice to serve.

Sugar Syrup
Sugar doesn’t dissolve easily in cold drinks, so prepare sugar syrup to sweeten all of your iced drinks:

In a small pot, boil 1 part water and 2 parts sugar for 5 minutes. Transfer into an airtight container/pitcher and keep refrigerated.
